Part of the support team in what is unquestionably one of the toughest one-day challenges around. La Patrouille des Glaciers (PDG) is a 33-mile endurance march – and race – across the mountains of Switzerland from Zermatt to Verbier with 13,000ft (4,000m) of ascent. (That’s considerably more than what climbers have to contend with from Base Camp to the summit of Mount Everest). This was another Bernie Shrosbree adventure with team mates Pippa Middleton and Tarquin Cooper. Everything that Bernie and I have practiced, crafted and experienced over thirty years came into play with a team effort combining in success as the only option. There is nowhere to hide on this event and Pippa Middleton demonstrated that she is a world class endurance athlete.
